ATTENTION: THERE IS A $50 NON REFUNDABLE REGISTRATION FEE FOR BACC*

You have been cited for an offense in the beach area of the City of San Diego.  You may be eligible to participate in the Beach Area Community Court.

Why should I try it?

This is an opportunity for you to resolve your case without having criminal charges filed against you.  Participation in the Beach Area Community Court is strictly voluntary.

What is it?

If you are eligible and agree to participate, you will attend and participate in:

Photobucket

  • A two-hour program on a weeknight, consisting of a discussion during which beach area residents talk about the impact of crime on their community, a nurse discusses related health issues, and law enforcement talks about its concerns.
  • A four-hour community service program on a weekend morning.  The program will be held in the beach community.
  • You must attend the entire program in order to receive your certificate of completion.  If you successfully complete the Beach Area Community Court, you will avoid criminal conviction.
  • Please note all Non-English speakers must bring their own interpreter as one will not be provided for you.

How do I sign up?

Within five (5) business days of your citation, you must register here or by calling 858-273-3050 to schedule a Beach Area Community Court appearance.  Your eligibility will be confirmed and you will be notified of the date of your Beach Area Community Court appearance. Notification will be emailed or mailed to the address you provide and may take 6-8 weeks to arrive (this could be longer due to covid restrictions). You must bring a valid photo ID to participate in the Community Court session.

Registration Fee: A $50.00 registration fee will be required to attend BACC.  BACC initially was funded by Bureau of Justice Assistance grant of $200,000.  This grant money was used to set up the court in 2006 and funded BACC up until April 2009.  In order to continue BACC, a registration fee of $50.00 is required to cover the administrative costs of this alternative court.

If you do not have a credit card to complete registration online, you must call 858-273-3050 and speak to a BACC representative to schedule advance payment and complete registration

Refund Policy:  An offender is able to register to participate in BACC via the website or via a phone call to BACC.  A $50 registration fee is required and is non-refundable.

What if I'm ineligible or don't want to do it?

If you are deemed ineligible or decline to participate, you must appear on your scheduled arraignment date in San Diego Superior Court, as stated on your citation.  Your failure to appear on that date will result in the issuance of a warrant for your arrest and/or additional Court fines.  You may only participate in Beach Area Community Court ONE TIME.
